By now, you've read all about us and we've told you how great we are, but don't just take our word for it!
Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College is a secondary school specialising in maths and computing based in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
Although the school was enthusiastic about what Carrot Rewards had to offer there were some doubts as to whether the system would appeal to older students. There was also some worry that the students wouldn’t engage with the range of prizes that were available.
Alexandra Northover, teacher and rewards coordinator describes how adoption of Carrot Rewards has gone in regards to take-up by older pupils:
"We have been really pleasantly surprised that older pupils have responded so well and seem to appreciate the more subtle form of praise rather than drawing attention to themselves in front of the whole class. When I was pitching the programme to Senior Leadership that was something they raised i.e. would older children 'buy in' and they definitely have!"
Another surprise has been which rewards have been most popular:
"interestingly the most popular items are actually in house rewards that don't cost the school a lot of money, like printer credit and pass cards for break time snacks and queue jump cards. We also enter the top performing pupils into a prize draw at the end of each term. We were also lucky enough to have a pupil win a golden sticker and it created a big buzz among the pupils."
